Dehydrated skin
Dehydrated skin has a lack of water and hydration. It is caused by the way we live today, the environment, consumption of caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes, not drinking enough water, sun, sun beds, central heating, air conditioning, stress, poor diet, poor skincare routine and using the wrong products, to name but a few.
It is a condition likely to affect almost all skin to some degree.
The skin may appear dull, lifeless and almost grey in colour. The pores will be of medium size and open, with a darkened base. These are not true blackheads and the colour is usually flushed away with correct care and attention. The skin may develop a shine throughout the day, but this is of light, fluid texture. Any make up applied usually disappears within a few hours of application, because the skin is grabbing it for its hydration properties.
The ageing of a Dehydrated skin
Ageing occurs as maturity is reached, but these changes happen slowly. The signs of ageing arrive in the mid to late twenties, which suggests the process starts in our early twenties and quickens considerably in our thirties.
Fine lines appear on dehydrated skin within the early twenties, manifesting as a ‘parched’, rather than lined appearance. This is easily corrected with hydrating treatments and products.
On a dehydrated skin which has been corrected, and therefore, well hydrated (and depending on genetic makeup), if cared for properly, the youthfulness of this skin can be maintained and radiance and vitality enjoyed for many years to come.
It is important to avoid harsh products that strip out the natural oil of the skin.
